Hi, I’m Ann — founder of The Deutsch Teacher, lifelong language learner, and your personal German coach. I understand that German can feel like a challenging language to learn, but I’m here to show you that it doesn’t have to be.
My journey with German started back in high school. The truth is, I struggled — so much so that my teacher suggested I drop the class. Thankfully, I didn’t, and that decision changed the course of my life.
Fast forward to today: I’m married to a German, I’ve raised two bilingual (German-American) kids, and am living in Germany. My passion for teaching and learning German has only grown over the years. And after more than 15 years of teaching German in high schools and universities, I’ve helped hundreds of students go from frustrated and stuck to confident and capable.
I know the fears that come with learning a language. Maybe you’re afraid of speaking and making mistakes. Maybe you feel like you’ll never catch up. Maybe you’re juggling work, family, and everything else, and it just feels like there’s no time.

I started learning German when I was 13, and have loved the language ever since!
My favorite food is fluffy, buttery biscuits (US style, not the UK kind — although I like those too!).
I love to cook and bake, especially after a Saturday morning trip to the farmers' market! Yum!
Lately I have been obsessed with cows. Pictures of cows, live cows ... I find them fascinating!
My favorite color is usually blue, but I really am loving this sage green right now.
I love to travel and meet new people, and I can't wait to get to know you!
